"I want to get a picture with every guest at my wedding!" / Erie Pa Wedding Photographer
YA!! How fun! Well, it can be. Or it can be exhausting for the bride and groom because getting every single person to cooperate for group photos is like corralling cats.
May I offer a suggestion? It’s a little fun event called “The Ballroom Blitz”. (I am sure there are other names but that’s what I call it.)
Here is how it works:
The DJ announces that the bride and groom will be running around to each table to get a group shot with everyone and that everyone should be ready. The goal is to go to each table and get a photo with everyone within the run time of the song. I have heard lots of different songs with this - it doesn’t have to be “Ballroom Blitz” You and your DJ can work together to choose that but it should be fast-paced.
Why do I love this? I have never photographed this and not had the bride and groom and guests REALLY ENJOYING it. And it is such an effective way to get a photo with everyone without the frustration of trying to get everyone to cooperate.
Here is a video that my good friend and fellow photographer Rob Frank put together to showcase how it’s done.
When I make a suggestion like this, remember: this is YOUR DAY and you ultimately decide the way that things are done. This isn’t for everyone but just a little idea on how to achieve your goal to get a photograph with everyone AND to have fun. (Not to mention give your photographer a little workout).
